Without any percussion or drums, this particular rendition of \u201cListen to the Music\u201d has an even breezier and lighter feel than the original. Not that it\u2019s without any depth or complexity; McFee\u2019s banjo and Cowan\u2019s bass tumble and rumble beneath the guitars, and all four Doobies combine for some characteristically soaring harmonies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">At the end of the performance, Johnston shares a quick message encouraging fans to donate to the hunger relief organization, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.feedingamerica.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Feeding America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Doobie Brothers\u2019 take on \u201cListen to the Music\u201d follows a virtual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/watch-the-doobie-brothers-perform-black-water-isolation-990241\/\">rendition of \u201cBlack Water,\u201d<\/a> which they shared back in April. And while former Doobie Brothers\u2019 keyboardist and singer Michael McDonald hasn\u2019t partaken in any full-band clips, he\u2019s shared a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/michael-mcdonald-on-my-own-tonight-show-fallon-985832\/\">at-home performances<\/a> of his own, including a full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/michael-mcdonald-npr-tiny-desk-home-976445\/\">NPR \u201cTiny Desk\u201d concert<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Doobie Brothers were set to reunite with McDonald for a highly anticipated 50th-anniversary tour this summer, but in May the band was forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/doobie-brothers-tour-postponed-due-to-covid-19-1005014\/\">postpone and reschedule<\/a> the dates because of COVID-19.
