The slide occurred\u00a0near the 12,400-foot Kachina Peak just before noon.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.taosnews.com\/stories\/second-avalanche-victim-family-confirm-death-social-media,54588\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Taos News\u00a0<\/a>reported that medical teams had worked to keep Borg-Massanari alive for roughly three days before it was determined he would not survive. He had previously signed up to become an organ donor before his unexpected death.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0silent and tearful gesture was the first time the hospital conducted the \u201cOrgan Donor Walk of Honor,\u201d which will become a new tradition for its staff.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"about:blank\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-rocket-lazyload=\"fitvidscompatible\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/89jYzF7GcW4\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><noscript><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/89jYzF7GcW4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/noscript> <\/p>\n<p>Borg-Massanari was born in Pueblo, raised in Minnesota and recently moved to Vail, where he attended Colorado Mountain College and worked at Patagonia in Vail Village and would often go skiing on his lunch break, his family said.
