Ledeux, Boesch win ski big air titles at worlds champs<\/p>\n
PARK CITY, Utah (AP) \u2014 Teenager Tess Ledeux of France won the women’s ski big air title at the world championships.<\/p>\n
Ledeux beat American Julia Krass on Saturday night, with Britain’s Isabel Atkin taking the bronze. This was the second world title for the 17-year-old Ledeux, who also earned a slopestyle crown in 2017.<\/p>\n
In the men’s ski big air final, Fabian Boesch of Switzerland edged Sweden’s Henrik Harlaut. Alex Beaulieu-Marchand of Canada wound up with the bronze. Boesch won a slopestyle title at the 2015 world championships.<\/p>\n
The ski big air event will be added to the Olympic program at the 2022 Beijing Games.<\/p>\n
Team snowboardcross will be held Sunday at the world championships.<\/p>\n
Place, Thompson earn gold at worlds in skicross event<\/p>\n
SOLITUDE, Utah \u2014 Francois Place of France won the men’s skicross final at the world championships by holding off Olympic gold medalist Brady Leman.<\/p>\n
In an event that calls for side-by-side racing over bumps and jumps at high rates of speed, Place took the victory Saturday over Canadian teammates Leman and Kevin Drury. Leman captured the Olympic crown at the Pyeongchang Games last February in the fast-paced competition.<\/p>\n
On the women’s side, Marielle Thompson of Canada beat Swiss racer Fanny Smith for the win. Alizee Baron of France captured the bronze.<\/p>\n
Thompson was the gold medalist at the 2014 Sochi Games.<\/p>\n
