{"id":2439386,"date":"2019-02-03T10:30:01","date_gmt":"2019-02-03T17:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/?p=296873"},"modified":"2019-02-03T10:30:01","modified_gmt":"2019-02-03T17:30:01","slug":"durango-airport-expansion-hinges-on-3-9-million-land-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/durango-airport-expansion-hinges-on-3-9-million-land-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Durango airport expansion hinges on $3.9 million land deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DURANGO (AP) \u2014 Officials in southwestern Colorado are planning to expand the Durango-La Plata County Airport.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/durangoherald.com\/articles\/261466-durango-airport-plans-to-purchase-property-for-expansion\">The Durango Herald<\/a>\u00a0reports that the plan hinges on a $3.9 million purchase of land near the existing airport.<\/p>\n<p>Durango city councilors are scheduled to vote on the purchase on Tuesday and La Plata County commissioners are scheduled for a vote on Feb. 12.<\/p>\n<p>The expected sale would add more than 12 acres to the airport\u2019s property. A city statement said the land would likely be used for parking, rental car facilities or roadways.<\/p>\n<p>Airport Director Tony Vicari says an opportunity to buy land adjacent to an airport terminal is rare.
