Vail Resorts announced on Wednesday morning that there will be two new resorts added to the 2019-2020 Epic Pass: Sun Valley Resort, in Idaho, and Snowbasin Resort in Utah.<\/p>\n

Epic Pass holders will get seven days of unrestricted skiing at the two resorts, while Epic Local Pass holders will get two days at each resort with minimal restrictions. Those buying the 4-day or 7-day Epic Passes can use any or all of their days at both resorts.<\/p>\n

The decision comes with lots of opportunity for Vail Resorts and its guests. \u201cSun Valley is a four-season renowned mountain resort and provides visitors from around the world with diverse mountain experiences and world-class dining and shopping. Together with nearby Park City Mountain Resort, Snowbasin has an incredibly rich winter sports history and this expanded access provides two great options for Epic Pass holders in Utah,\u201d said Kirsten Lynch, chief marketing officer of Vail Resorts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Idaho goes Epic<\/h2>\n

Sun Valley will be the first ski resort in Idaho to be included on the Epic Pass. This move puts the state on the map in an aggressive acquisition battle between Vail Resorts and its rival, Alterra, with their Ikon Pass. Both companies have been increasing territories in the United States and across the globe to entice ski enthusiasts\u00a0when it comes time to debate next year’s pass purchase.<\/p>\n

It won’t be the first grandiose claim Sun Valley adds to its history; according to the press release, Sun Valley is known as “the nation\u2019s first destination ski resort and the location of the world\u2019s first chairlift.”<\/p>\n

Joining the Epic Pass is beneficial for both Vail Resorts and the family-owned mountain.\u00a0\u201cSun Valley is one of the premier ski destinations in the country, and we welcome Epic Pass holders to our resort,” said Tim Silva, Sun Valley Resort\u2019s Vice President and General Manager. “This will offer a significant benefit to Epic Pass holders, Sun Valley and Snowbasin season pass holders, and our resort communities.”<\/p>\n

Snowbasin boasts accessibility and championship-level skiing<\/h2>\n

Snowbasin is less than an hour’s drive from Salt Lake City International Airport. Its 3,000 acres of variable terrain played host to the\u00a0downhill, combined, and super-G events during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n
