Blink-182<\/strong>\u00a0drummer Travis Barker has opened up about what the new music the band is working on sounds like, and this all sounds very promising indeed.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Billboard, Travis revealed that the album is almost finished, and it sounds closest to his favourite Blink album, their 2003 self-titled. “I\u2019m really excited because we\u2019re about 70 percent\u00a0finished with our album. I feel like this is the closest we\u2019ve come to something like [2003’s]\u00a0Blink-182\u00a0since that album, which is one of my favorite Blink albums by far.”<\/em> he revealed.<\/p>\n

He continued, explaining “I feel like ‘California’ was similar to ‘Enema of the State’ and ‘Take Off Your Pants and Jacket’: re-establishing the band, giving fans what they really want and expect from Blink. Now that we got that out of our system naturally, we\u2019re not writing like that this time. It\u2019s more experimental. It\u2019s not like you\u2019re listening and thinking, “Oh I\u2019ve heard that before, oh I can compare this to this other song.” With this album we\u2019re reestablishing new songs, new rhythms, new ideas.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Where I look back at ‘California’, you could compare ‘Cynical’ to other fast songs we\u2019ve done. I could put ‘She\u2019s Out Of Her Mind’ down as a brother-sister record to ‘Rock Show’ or ‘First Date’. The songs on the new album don\u2019t have any brothers or sisters. They don\u2019t sound like anything we\u2019ve done before. Songs on self-titled like ‘Feeling This’ and ‘I Miss You’, I really feel like those didn\u2019t sound like anything Blink had touched on before. I just know were doing that again. That\u2019s exciting to me.”<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

And it’s exciting to us, too.<\/p>\n

The good news too, is that we won’t be waiting long to hear new Blink music, with Travis revealing that it’s set for release “April, May or June”.<\/em><\/p>\n

While details about what the first single will be are super thin on the ground, Travis did reveal that his favourite song from the album is a track they’re referring to at the moment as ‘Paris’, which is comprised of a beat he initially wrote for Juice WRLD<\/strong>, sharing “There\u2019s a song that we refer to as ‘Paris’ that\u2019s really awesome. It was actually a beat I made for Juice WRLD and before I ever got in the studio with him, I played it randomly, and Mark [Hoppus] said, \u201cOh what are you working on?\u201d They were like, \u201cWhoa, we really like this.\u201d And it morphed into a Blink song. It\u2019s probably our favorite right now.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Basically, new Blink is on the horizon, and it sounds very promising.<\/p>\n
