{"id":2440887,"date":"2019-02-21T22:19:50","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T05:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=798631"},"modified":"2019-02-21T22:19:50","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T05:19:50","slug":"hear-adam-lamberts-achingly-yearning-new-song-feel-something","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/hear-adam-lamberts-achingly-yearning-new-song-feel-something\/","title":{"rendered":"Hear Adam Lambert\u2019s Achingly Yearning New Song \u2018Feel Something\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/9727754k.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/adam-lambert\/\" id=\"auto-tag_adam-lambert\" data-tag=\"adam-lambert\">Adam Lambert<\/a> has released new song \u201cFeel Something.\u201d It\u2019s the singer\u2019s first new solo track since he unveiled 2017\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VwTZEWI3wvw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Two Fux<\/a>.\u201d Lambert said it\u2019s slated for his upcoming album and serves as a preview of what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Lambert, Benedict Cork and Josh Cumbee, the achingly yearning ballad showcases Lambert\u2019s acrobatic vocal range. \u201cI\u2019ve been leaving my heart in all the wrong places,\u201d he sings. \u201cTook it back way too soon when I should\u2019ve been patient.\u201d Later, he confesses on the chorus, where a backing chorus buoys the sentiment,\u00a0 \u201cI don\u2019t need to feel love, I just want to feel something\/If it\u2019s never enough, at least it\u2019s better than nothing\/After everyone I\u2019ve lost and ever kiss I wasted\/I don\u2019t, I don\u2019t need to feel love, just want to feel something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was written about me climbing out of the low period, defying my disillusionment, owning my needs and opening my heart,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adamlambert\/status\/1098603733099917314\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">he wrote<\/a> of the song in a post he shared on social media before the tune\u2019s release, adding that he had been feeling empty and numb when it came to life as a bachelor and also frustrated in his career. Eventually, his circumstances led to him realizing, \u201cI don\u2019t need to feel love, I just need to feel something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis song is the emotional starting point of my new album,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Lambert, who will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/kendrick-lamar-sza-will-not-perform-all-the-stars-2019-oscars-798607\/\">perform with Queen<\/a> at the Oscars on Sunday, opened up about \u201cthe dark period\u201d he had been going through in the post, which had stunted his creativity. He began by thanking fans for their support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve pushed me to keep going even when I felt discouraged. I love making and performing music, but there have been many times where I\u2019ve had to compromise on my artistic vision, with executives making decisions based on money and not art,\u201d he wrote. \u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong. I\u2019m VERY proud of my body of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019m coming out of a dark period of second guessing my own artistry and having my mental health suffer because of it,\u201d he continued. \u201cI started asking myself, \u2018Is all this hustle really worth it?\u2019 I put all my focus on work and started to feel detached in my personal life. My self worth was suffering. I was lonely and becoming depressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, he credited touring with Queen (they will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/queen-adam-lambert-north-american-rhapsody-tour-762415\/\">hit the road<\/a> again in June), collaborating with them creatively and also receiving additional support from professionals, colleagues, friends and family in helping him get through.<\/p>\n<p>He added that he had begun his latest writing process on his own before recruiting fellow writers and artists. \u201cI wanted to make the music I wanted to make,\u201d he said, noting that he is making a fresh start with a new label.<\/p>\n<p>He also gave some insight into what to expect of the material on his new album. \u201cThe tracks will chronicle the journey of taking responsibility for my own happiness and strength, and searching for intimacy,\u201d he concluded. \u201cSince writing this song, I\u2019ve found the joy I was missing and I\u2019m back in my power.
