This back-and-forth steadily builds to the song\u2019s final moments, where Shionda bellows, \u201cSo welcome to the breakdown\/Tired of playing games now\/Make it no mistake\/I will prove you wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWhat the Words Meant\u201d is a more atmospheric track, with heavy electronic drums clattering through an expanse of synths. \u201cI thought I understood what the words meant,\u201d Shinoda sings, \u201cI thought that they were written for me\/A message spelled out in a language\/That only those who\u2019ve been there\/Been there can read.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FzQ8ZAMF4eM?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Shinoda released <em>Post Traumatic<\/em> last June, almost a year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/chester-bennington-linkin-park-singer-dead-at-41-200370\/\">after the death<\/a> of Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/linkin-parks-mike-shinoda-opens-up-about-life-after-chester-bennington-628689\/\">interview with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, Shinoda discussed how much of the album is about his struggle to understand himself without Bennington in his life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWhen I wrote some of that stuff, I was like, \u2018Oh, should I say that? Does that sound weird?\u2019\u201d Shinoda said. \u201cBut I think it would be true for anybody in this situation. When you go through a difficult situation, sometimes you question stuff you don\u2019t need to question. And I did.
