Keith Flint, frontman of the British electronic group the Prodigy<\/a>, died this weekend at his home in Essex, England. He was 49.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint,\u201d the band said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cA true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

An official cause of death was not confirmed as of Monday morning, but the Prodigy founder Liam Howlett wrote on Instagram<\/a> that Flint died by suicide. \u201cThe news is true, I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend. I\u2019m shell shocked, fuckin angry, confused and heart broken \u2026.. r.i.p brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Essex police spokesperson confirmed Flint\u2019s death to the Guardian<\/a><\/em>, \u201cWe attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.\u201d<\/p>\n
