{"id":2441375,"date":"2019-03-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-06T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/?p=301092"},"modified":"2019-03-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T07:00:00","slug":"aspen-problems-pothole-on-new-bridge-reappears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/aspen-problems-pothole-on-new-bridge-reappears\/","title":{"rendered":"Aspen problems: Pothole on new bridge reappears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Construction on Castle Creek Bridge will begin sometime in April to fix a pothole for the third time since the bridge was reopened last fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The hole keeps emerging in the same spot in the westbound lane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">City Engineer Trish Aragon said the last two fixes were not enough and it appears that the new, wider sidewalk isn&#8217;t allowing for proper drainage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">&#8220;This is exacerbating something that was a problem before,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The bridge <a id=\"N0x26e3ac0N0x2700e90:N0x26e3ac0N0x2510b48\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/local\/entrance-to-aspen-construction-to-end-this-week\/\">reopened<\/a> last November after a four-month overhaul of the Hallam Street corridor leading to the S-Curves at the Entrance to Aspen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The pothole appeared almost immediately after the bridge was opened and it was filled in. Two weeks later, it showed up again and that time, the city used mastic asphalt.<\/p>\n<div id=\"single-mid-script\" class=\"p402_hide\">\n<h2>Recommended Stories For You<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">This time, crews will drill a hole on the bridge deck to allow for drainage, Aragon said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">&#8220;It looks like we will need three days this spring to permanently repair the pothole on the bridge,&#8221; she said via email. &#8220;One day for cleaning and drilling, one day for drain installation and one day for asphalt paving.
