We spoke with Trivium’s Matt Heafy to talk through all things ‘Ascendancy’, and it turns out there was almost a very surprising bonus track on the album… \u201cI did have another idea for \u2018Ascendancy\u2019, and I wonder so much whether it would have been a good idea or not.”<\/em> Matt shared. “When we were about to record it, on the Roadrage tour, I told Robb Flynn, \u2018Hey, I\u2019ve had this awesome idea, I want to make a Trivium-ised version of *NSYNC\u2019s \u2018Tearin’ Up My Heart\u2019 and put it as a secret track on \u2018Ascendency\u2019.”<\/em><\/p>\n

“He was like, \u2018That\u2019s a horrible idea, don\u2019t do it.\u2019 So we didn\u2019t – but I\u2019ve always wondered if it would have worked. Look at all the heavy bands covering pop songs now!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
