Cage the Elephant<\/a>\u2019s upcoming LP Social Cues<\/em> emerged from a time of turmoil for the Bowling Green, Kentucky band. In a recent interview<\/a> with Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s Patrick Doyle, lead singer Matt Shultz discusses the stressful process of making a new album in the aftermath of his divorce: \u201cThere was a fair amount of self-medication\u2009and intense isolation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

You can hear it all in \u201cHouse of Glass,\u201d the band\u2019s new single. Over a dark, stormy bass\/guitar vamp, Shultz things about bad vibes and things falling apart. \u201cIt\u2019s an illusion, this admiration\/Of mutilation\/My isolation,\u201d he growls in the chorus, repeating the final phrase twice for good measure. \u201cHouse of Glass\u201d doesn\u2019t sound like much fun to live through, but it\u2019s an effective doom-and-disaster rocker.<\/p>\n

Social Cues<\/em> is out April 19th. It\u2019s the band\u2019s fifth album, and their first since 2015\u2019s Grammy-winning Tell Me I\u2019m Pretty<\/em>. Cage the Elephant recently announced plans to hit the road with Beck for a co-headlining summer tour with support from Spoon and others.<\/p>\n
