{"id":2441693,"date":"2019-03-13T20:48:43","date_gmt":"2019-03-14T02:48:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=807947"},"modified":"2019-03-13T20:48:43","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T02:48:43","slug":"alicia-keys-details-more-myself-autobiography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/alicia-keys-details-more-myself-autobiography\/","title":{"rendered":"Alicia Keys Details \u2018More Myself\u2019 Autobiography"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/10101166cf.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/alicia-keys\/\" id=\"auto-tag_alicia-keys\" data-tag=\"alicia-keys\">Alicia Keys<\/a> has announced she will be releasing a book that is \u201cpart autobiography, part narrative documentary\u201d per its description, through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/oprah-winfrey\/\" id=\"auto-tag_oprah-winfrey\" data-tag=\"oprah-winfrey\">Oprah Winfrey<\/a>\u2019s publishing imprint. <em>More Myself<\/em> will hit shelves this fall.<\/p>\n<p>In a video featuring Keys and Winfrey announcing the tome, the singer said she didn\u2019t want to describe it as a memoir per se. \u201cYou know what\u2019s really interesting is just recalling all of these places and spaces and the moments in your life that cause you angst or anxiety or proud moments, or things you have to work through,\u201d she said of writing it. \u201cAnd I wanted to call it a journey because I did not, I do not want it to be called a memoir.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Winfrey expounded on the concept, adding that she loved the title: \u201cYou\u2019re constantly on a journey remembering, recalling and putting into perspective what you\u2019ve learned and what you now know and becoming who you are \u2013 \u2018More myself.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pair continued to discuss the themes explored in the book, which is described as giving a \u201c360-degree perspective on Alicia\u2019s path,\u201d from her formative years through \u201cthe process of self-discovery she\u2019s still navigating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Keys queried Winfrey on how she knew that she had finally become \u201cmore of herself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I felt comfortable enough in my own skin to say what I felt without worrying about if it was OK with everybody else that I said it,\u201d Winfrey replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t have to compare yourself to anybody. You don\u2019t have to try to be like somebody else, you don\u2019t have to try to make other people who you want to please happy,\u201d Keys added. \u201cYou know, of course we want to be kind and loving to each other, of course. But the goal is that you are making yourself happy, that you are learning more about yourself, that you are able to identify who you are, what you like, what you love, what makes you feel magic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>More Myself<\/em> is due out on November 5th and is <a href=\"https:\/\/static.macmillan.com\/static\/fib\/alicia-keys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">available for preorder<\/a>.
