{"id":2442194,"date":"2019-03-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-27T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/?p=302572"},"modified":"2019-03-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T06:00:00","slug":"candidates-raise-between-11k-and-20k-in-aspen-mayoral-campaigns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/local-news\/candidates-raise-between-11k-and-20k-in-aspen-mayoral-campaigns\/","title":{"rendered":"Candidates raise between $11K and $20K in Aspen mayoral campaigns"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/03\/election-atd-110916-57.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/03\/election-atd-110916-57.jpg 620w, https:\/\/cdn.aspentimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/03\/election-atd-110916-57-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\"><figcaption><strong>Pitkin County &#8220;I Voted&#8221; stickers at the Clerk and Recorder&#8217;s office.<\/strong><br \/>Anna Stonehouse\/The Aspen Times<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Aspen mayoral candidate Ann Mullins raised just over $1,000 more than her opponent, Torre, during the last reporting period in the April 2 runoff election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Since the two candidates received the most votes in the March 5 municipal election but failed to get 50 percent of the vote plus one, they have been on the campaign trail vying for the top elected post in City Hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">As of Tuesday afternoon, 1,202 ballots have been cast in this mail-in election, according to City Clerk Linda Manning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Between March 13 and March 25, Mullins raised $3,645 and Torre raised $2,500.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Thus far in their <a id=\"N0x193ab60N0x192d290:N0x193ab60N0x1ae9ae0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/election\/aspen-mayoral-candidates-see-same-priorities-for-next-term\/\">campaigns<\/a>, which began this past winter in the lead-up to last month\u2019s election, Torre has raised just over $11,000 and Mullins almost $20,000, according to campaign <a id=\"N0x193ab60N0x192d2f0:N0x193ab60N0x1ae9b70\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/election\/aspen-mayoral-candidates-raise-modest-amounts-in-first-week-of-runoff-campaign\/\">finance reports.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Mullins spent $3,721, with just over $1,000 on hand at the beginning of this latest reporting period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">She received just over two dozen donations that ranged between $50 and $250, the maximum amount a candidate can receive in an election cycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Jim DeFrancia, one of the developers behind the Gorsuch Haus hotel that Mullins supported as part of the Lift One corridor proposal that voters approved in March, gave $250 to her campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Nan Sundeen, the director of Pitkin County\u2019s health and human services and a Carbondale resident, donated $100 to Mullins\u2019 campaign. Aspen Daily News columnist Lorenzo Semple gave her $100 and Belly Up owner Michael Goldberg gave $250.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">She spent the most money on newspaper ads during the reporting period, along with posting and printing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Torre spent almost $2,700 between March 13 and March 25, with just over $2,100 on hand at the beginning of the reporting period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">He had 21 donations, ranging from $50 to $250. His donors include Independence Square owner Terry Butler, affordable housing developer Peter Fornell and Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo, all of whom gave $200 or more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Torre spent money in this reporting cycle on a promotional event at Aspen Tap, newspaper advertising and filers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The runoff is an all-mail election. If voters registered in Aspen have not received their ballots, contact the C<a id=\"N0x193ab60N0x192d350:N0x193ab60N0x1aea0c8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofaspen.com\/201\/Municipal-Elections\">ity Clerk\u2019s Office.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Ballots will be accepted until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2.
