In the nearly 25 years since Rivers Cuomo and his bandmates released their first album, there have been many Weezers: the instant MTV hitmakers of their debut; the emo cult favorites of Pinkerton<\/em>; the comeback kings of the Green Album\u2026<\/em> and that\u2019s just the start. With two new Weezer<\/a> albums out this year (the Teal Album,<\/em> with covers of the likes of TLC and Toto,<\/em> and the Dave Sitek-produced Black Album<\/em>) our podcast, Rolling Stone Music Now<\/a>, took a career-spanning look at the band, and tried to figure out just how they\u2019ve lasted this long. Steven Hyden (author of Twilight of the Gods: A Journey to the End of Classic Rock<\/em>) joined host Brian Hiatt and Andy Greene to dissect every phase of Weezer\u2019s singular discography, and to try to gain some insight into the mysterious mind of Rivers Cuomo.<\/p>\n
