{"id":2442496,"date":"2019-04-03T08:23:33","date_gmt":"2019-04-03T14:23:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=816829"},"modified":"2019-04-03T08:23:33","modified_gmt":"2019-04-03T14:23:33","slug":"the-cult-to-celebrate-sonic-temple-30th-anniversary-with-special-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/the-cult-to-celebrate-sonic-temple-30th-anniversary-with-special-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"The Cult to Celebrate \u2018Sonic Temple\u2019 30th Anniversary With Special Concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/zola-jesus-the-cult-sonic-temple.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>British rock band <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-cult\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-cult\" data-tag=\"the-cult\">The Cult<\/a> have announced a special live event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the band\u2019s 1989 album <em>Sonic Temple.<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/zola-jesus\/\" id=\"auto-tag_zola-jesus\" data-tag=\"zola-jesus\">Zola Jesus<\/a>, Prayers, and Vowws will perform with The Cult on June 15 at Los Angeles\u2019 Greek Theatre, transforming the venue into its own \u201csonic temple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019ve never thrown a party like this before,\u201d lead singer Ian Astbury stated in a press release<\/span><strong>.<\/strong> <span>\u201cWe want to celebrate the band\u2019s DNA and especially the album<\/span> <em><span class=\"s2\">Sonic Temple<\/span><\/em> <span class=\"s1\">\u2026 Prayers and Vowws have both toured with us and the timing felt right for bringing this group of artists together. In many ways I feel these artists are kindred spirits, along with Zola Jesus \u2013 outsiders who are unique and deeply romantic in a time of material posturing and disconnect.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Greek Theatre show will be one stop on The Cult\u2019s upcoming May-June tour in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada.
