Author Tiffanie DeBartolo (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Tiffanie-DeBartolo\/e\/B001K8FQVY\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&amp;qid=1554313413&amp;sr=8-1&amp;linkCode=ll2&amp;tag=rollingston07-20&amp;linkId=a512df87d37569149e79fab82f70dc7d&amp;language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><em>How to Kill a Rock Star<\/em>, <em>God-Shaped Hole<\/em><\/a>) collaborated with visual artists Pascal Dizin and Lisa Reist on the project, which comes out April 30th via First Second\/Macmillan (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Grace-Based-Jeff-Buckley-Story\/dp\/1250196922\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?crid=9Y7CGCXI3DSO&amp;keywords=jeff+buckley+book&amp;qid=1554313448&amp;s=gateway&amp;sprefix=jeff+buck,digital-text,191&amp;sr=8-6&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=rollingston07-20&amp;linkId=e3d8037633626538aec858511e135acc&amp;language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">find it here<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The novel \u2014 which includes archival material contributed by the musician\u2019s mother, Mary Guibert \u2014 opens with a young Buckley bucking comparisons to his father, songwriter Tim Buckley, and developing his own material. After falling in love with a woman in New York, the guitarist ventures to the city to find his own path. The book charts his rise from obscurity to legend \u2014 from formative early Nineties shows in Manhattan\u2019s East Village at venues like Sin-\u00e9 to releasing his sole LP, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Grace-Jeff-Buckley\/dp\/B00447G2NY\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?crid=2JHWZBZ03CLHB&amp;keywords=jeff+buckley+grace+vinyl&amp;qid=1554313506&amp;s=music&amp;sprefix=jeff+buckley+grace,aps,183&amp;sr=1-1-catcorr&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=rollingston07-20&amp;linkId=dd17e81de790f952627431e978f8e2af&amp;language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">1994\u2019s <em>Grace<\/em><\/a>, through relocating to Memphis, Tennessee, where he accidentally drowned in May 1997.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis story is more than just a story about Jeff\u2019s life,\u201d DeBartolo said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s also a story about the impact his extraordinary talent&nbsp;and&nbsp;his&nbsp;eternal spirit&nbsp;has&nbsp;on everyone who&nbsp;discovers&nbsp;his&nbsp;timeless&nbsp;music.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">First Second Editorial Director Calista Brill&nbsp;called the project \u201ca beautiful portrait of the artistic drive that takes somebody to the point he reached\u201d in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/books\/first-second-graphic-novels-winter-2019\/?slide=5919904#5919904\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThe art is expressive and lively, the whole thing is a joyful ode to him rather than a solemn tribute,\u201d she added. \u201cHis mother was very involved in the creation of this book, so the authors had access to a terrific wellspring of information about him.
