The song will be available on all streaming services at midnight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Cyrus announces himself immediately by singing the first hook: \u201cI\u2019m gonna take my horse to the old town road\/ I\u2019m gonna ride \u2019til I can\u2019t no more.\u201d He shows up again towards the end of the banjo-heavy hip-pop single, adding a throaty verse that emphasizes the triumphant aspects of Lil Nas X\u2019s hit: fancy jewelry, expensive cars and living a stress-free life. \u201cOld Town Road\u201d was short to start with, and even with another verse, it stays succinct, clocking in below 2:40.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOld Town Road\u201d became popular earlier this year on the app TikTok before leaping onto the Hot 100 four weeks ago. The track was labelled \u201ccountry\u201d on SoundCloud, and country radio stalwarts like Florida Georgia Line\u2019s Brian Kelley later endorsed the song on social media. \u201cOld Town Road\u201d initially debuted on <em>Billboard<\/em>\u2018s Hot Country Songs chart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Billboard<\/em> subsequently removed \u201cOld Town Road\u201d from the country chart, suggesting \u201cit does not embrace enough elements of today\u2019s country music.\u201d While Cyrus did not directly address the genre credentials of \u201cOld Town Road,\u201d he showed his support for the song last week in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BvhS3hzBq5k\/?utm_source=ig_embed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">an Instagram post<\/span><\/a> to his 1.4 million followers. \u201cDon\u2019t try and think inside the box,\u201d Cyrus wrote. \u201cDon\u2019t think outside the box. Think like there is no box. #HorsesInTheBack\u201d \u2014 a reference to a lyric from \u201cOld Town Road\u201d that subsequently became a popular meme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOld Town Road\u201d is at Number 15 on the latest Hot 100. The track continues to stream this week \u2014 it\u2019s currently the only song on Spotify\u2019s Top 5 in the U.S. not by Billie Eilish.
