Following a trio of 50th anniversary shows<\/a> in their native Texas this May, ZZ Top<\/a> will bring their celebration on the road with an extensive U.S. summer tour. Cheap Trick will once again serve as the tour\u2019s primary special guest, with Lynyrd Skynyrd also onboard for a pair of shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been five decades, and I think we\u2019re starting to get pretty good at all this,\u201d Billy Gibbons said of the 50th anniversary trek in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re truly excited to be appearing across the continent this summer and fall, playing our bluesy kind of rock like we started in \u201969. The beards, Frank [Beard]\u2019s excepted, are perhaps a bit longer, yet nothing else has changed.  We\u2019re keeping it that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

ZZ Top, who formed in 1969 and released their First Album<\/em> in 1971, will open the trek August 16th in Ridgefield, Washington and pack 34 gigs into amphitheaters nationwide before concluding October 20th in West Palm Beach, Florida.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the trek go on sale beginning April 12th.<\/p>\n
