Gov. Jared Polis, who founded an internet company while in college, supports it.<\/p>\n<p>The bill\u2019s passage this year, after&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2018\/04\/24\/net-neutrality-colorado-broadband\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">failure in the Senate last year<\/a>, is another example of Democrats\u2019 show of strength since taking control of the legislature\u2019s upper chamber in the 2018 elections.<\/p>\n<p>Net neutrality is the notion that internet service providers should not favor certain types of internet content by speeding it up or slowing other content down. The Federal Communications Commission supported net neutrality under President Barack Obama but&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2018\/05\/17\/net-neutrality-vote-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\">has shifted direction<\/a>&nbsp;under President Donald Trump, formally ending net neutrality protections last year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2019\/04\/08\/net-neutrality-colorado-polis-fcc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Read the full story from The Denver Post.
