{"id":2443081,"date":"2019-04-17T08:24:29","date_gmt":"2019-04-17T14:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=822773"},"modified":"2019-04-17T08:24:29","modified_gmt":"2019-04-17T14:24:29","slug":"hear-kurt-vile-cover-rolling-stones-no-expectations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/hear-kurt-vile-cover-rolling-stones-no-expectations\/","title":{"rendered":"Hear Kurt Vile Cover Rolling Stones\u2019 \u2018No Expectations\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/kurt-vile-stones.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>In a session for Spotify\u2019s Singles series, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/kurt-vile\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kurt-vile\" data-tag=\"kurt-vile\">Kurt Vile<\/a> covered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-rolling-stones\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-rolling-stones\" data-tag=\"the-rolling-stones\">the Rolling Stones<\/a>\u2019 \u201cNo Expectations\u201d as well as an intimate, stripped down version of his <em>Bottle It In<\/em> opener \u201cLoading Zones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo Expectations,\u201d the <em>Beggars Banquet<\/em> track known for Brian Jones\u2019 silky slide guitar, sounds like an entirely different song when sang in Vile\u2019s isolated indie-folk twang. \u201cYou heart is like a diamond\/You throw your pearls at swine\/And as I watch you leaving me\/You pack my peace of mind,\u201d he sings over crisp piano.<\/p>\n<p>The first single to be released from <em>Bottle It In<\/em>, \u201cLoading Zones\u201d is much more bare on the Spotify recording, save for the acoustic guitar and looming harmonica that can be likened to Neil Young\u2019s ethereal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ePeFrluAVjQ\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cHitchhiker.\u201d<\/a> Still, Vile\u2019s rapid vocal delivery keeps the track sounding upbeat.<\/p>\n<p>Vile also announced a North American headlining tour, which will begin in Cleveland after he plays England\u2019s Glastonbury Festival.
