Diplo<\/a> is the latest musician to share his take on Lil Nas X<\/a> and Billy Ray Cyrus<\/a>\u2019 \u201cOld Town Road.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diplo\u2019s heart-racing rendition of the track comes in celebration of his Stagecoach afterparty Sunday night, which featured the first Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus performance of \u201cOld Town Road.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

With the DJ and producer\u2019s version of \u201cOld Town Road,\u201d the country phenomenon is given a whistling uptempo beat. On Thursday, Diplo also announced his own country music project, Thomas Wesley, with the debut single \u201cSo Long\u201d featuring Cam<\/a>. The song is the first of a series of country releases Diplo plans to share.<\/p>\n

\u201cOld Town Road\u201d first ignited<\/a> controversy in March, when the song debuted on Billboard<\/em>\u2018s Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B\/Hip-Hop simultaneously, but was pulled from the country chart. According to a Billboard<\/em> representative, the removal stemmed from the idea that it \u201cdoes not embrace enough elements of today\u2019s country music to chart in its current version.\u201d Amidst the controversy, Cyrus hopped on the song and it became a viral hit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Cyrus-assisted \u201cOld Town Road\u201d remix has since propelled the Lil Nas X track to the top of the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100, where it\u2019s sat for the third week in a row, also giving the longtime country musician his first Hot 100 Number One hit.<\/p>\n

Since the release of \u201cOld Town Road,\u201d the song has been remixed by rapper Cupcakke with \u201cOld Town Hoe<\/a>\u201d and covered by Keith Urban<\/a>. A Young Thug<\/a> remix has even been teased.<\/p>\n
