There are more than 100 designated dark sky places worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The International Dark-Sky Association also recognized efforts by monument staff to reduce artificial evening light and preserve dark views.<\/p>\n<p>Maintained by the National Park Service, the monument offers 35 nighttime viewing events.<\/p>\n<p>The monument was also named by scientists as one of the quietest places in the nation in 2015 based on acoustic monitoring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/dinosaur-national-monument-on-colorado-utah-border-recognized-as-dark-sky-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: The Aspen Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Yampa River as seen from the Yampa Bench Road in Dinosaur National Monument.Aspen Times File JENSEN, Utah (AP) \u2014 A national monument known for dinosaur fossils has also been named one of the world\u2019s best places to view the stars.
