The fire threatened parts of Basalt on July 3 and 4, and then threatened El Jebel the night of July 4. <a id=\"N0x242c500N0x230bba0:N0x242c500N0x24bdd10\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/lake-christine-fire-day-3-strong-winds-overnight-push-flames-downvalley-into-el-jebel-toward-missouri-heights\/\">Three homes burned<\/a> in the El Jebel area. Thousands of residents were temporarily evacuated. More than 12,500 acres of state, federal and private lands were charred.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\" readability=\"2.5\">\n<blockquote readability=\"8\">\n<p>\u201cThe panel will discuss how the fire has changed the landscape; completed, ongoing and future restoration-mitigation projects; what citizens need to know to be prepared; and how to get involved.\u201d \u2014 Roaring Fork Conservancy<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The threat now is flash flooding from hardened soils in the burn scar and debris flow. The town of Basalt is heading the effort of several entities to undertake <a id=\"N0x242c500N0x230bc60:N0x242c500N0x24bde30\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/1-35-million-raised-for-flood-mitigation-projects-in-lake-christine-fire-burn-scar\/\">flood mitigation projects<\/a> this summer. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has already undertaken extensive reseeding and flood mitigation on the massive Basalt State Wildlife Area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">A citizens\u2019 committee is working on issues involving the shooting range.
