Tyler, The Creator<\/a> has a new album on the way.<\/p>\n

His upcoming project, titled IGOR,<\/em> will be released on May 17. It\u2019s the rapper-producer\u2019s sixth full-length (including his 2009 mixtape BASTARD)<\/em>, and the follow-up to 2017\u2019s Flower Boy <\/em>\u2014 likely his best-received album to date, and one that marked a new artistic transition for him towards the sunny and improvisational. So far, we don\u2019t have much information to go on for what IGOR <\/em>will sound like; the announcement came on Twitter and was accompanied by two album covers. The first looks inspired by Grace Jones, according to some<\/a>, and the second, designed by Lewis Rossignol, is decidedly more expressionistic. Last week, Tyler<\/a> dropped two<\/a> snippets<\/a> teasing new music, but has yet to release a full song from the album.<\/p>\n

Though his last outing was critical success, Tyler has been vocal about what he wants to achieve next. In an August cover story for GQ Style<\/em><\/a>, Tyler revealed that one of the goals for his future albums is radio play.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I\u2019ve been trying to get on the radio,\u201d Tyler said. \u201cI haven\u2019t been super successful with that, but that time will come. If it\u2019s not the next album, then it\u2019s the three after that\u2026 It\u2019s still a piece of me that not only wants to be on the radio, but it\u2019s probably some 11-year-old in the middle of fucking nowhere who might hear a song, look me up, get introduced to a whole world \u2014 and that could change everything he\u2019s into for the rest of his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 11 days, we\u2019ll see if IGOR<\/em> is that moment.<\/p>\n
