It features a string section and soaring vocals by Springsteen.<\/p>\n<p>The song is reminiscent of some of the lusher moments on Springsteen\u2019s 2009 LP <em>Working on a Dream.<\/em> \u201cIn the past I was very often interested in making sure the band was a very tough rock band,\u201d he told Rolling Stone\u2019s Brian Hiatt in 2009, discussing his stylistic shifts on that album. \u201cI could move away from that surface toughness and go, \u2018Yeah I\u2019m gonna make this big swinging, melodic ballad.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Western Stars<\/em> comes out on June 12th. It\u2019s Springsteen\u2019s first record of all-new songs since 2012\u2019s <em>Wrecking Ball<\/em>. It was produced by Ron Aniello and features contributions from founding E Street Band keyboardist David Sancious, keyboardist Charlie Giordano and violinist Soozie Tyrell of the current edition of the E Street band along with Jon Brion. \u201cIt\u2019s a singer-songwriter record,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2018\/music\/news\/bruce-springsteen-talks-trump-new-album-and-hints-at-an-upcoming-tour-1203078221\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Springsteen told <em>Variety<\/em> in December.<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s connected to my solo records writing-wise, more <em>Tunnel of Love<\/em> and Devils &amp; Dust, but it\u2019s not like them at all. Just different characters living their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear if Springsteen plans any sort of tour to promote <em>Western Stars<\/em> and he hasn\u2019t spoken publicly about the record in any detail since it was announced. He has, however, said that he\u2019s already written songs for a future E Street Band album. \u201cIt just came out of almost nowhere,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bruce-springsteen-e-street-band-album-tour-831649\/\">he told Martin Scorsese<\/a> at a Netflix event in Los Angeles. \u201cAnd it was good, you know. I had about two weeks of those little daily visitations, and it was so nice. It makes you so happy. You go, \u2018Fuck, I\u2019m not fucked, all right?
