Duff McKagan<\/a> has unveiled his latest solo track \u201cLast September,\u201d a #MeToo-inspired ballad off the Guns N\u2019 Roses bassist\u2019s upcoming album Tenderness<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

McKagan said in a statement of the #MeToo movement, \u201cI heard and read some awful stories. As the father of two girls, I felt the need to write this song. If I have any job in the world, it\u2019s to protect the women in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s blind, what she wore, he said she planned it \/ He lied to himself, said she could have ran,\u201d McKagan sings on the acoustic \u201cLast September,\u201d which details an unwanted sexual encounter. \u201cShe said no, he said yes, he took her down and choked her neck \/ His momma didn\u2019t raise a man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to make the man in the song as awful as possible,\u201d McKagan added. \u201cI wanted to make him a warning. We hear stories of people showing signs beforehand\u2026and we hear also, that something could have been done. I don\u2019t have an answer, and the song doesn\u2019t either. The hope is to simply raise awareness of distressing signals that some may display.\u201d<\/p>\n

McKagan has previously shared \u201cChip Away<\/a>\u201d and the title track<\/a> off Tenderness<\/em>, which arrives May 31st. McKagan and Shooter Jennings, who produced the LP, will also embark on a two-week North American tour that begins May 31st in New York City.<\/p>\n
