The second storm will hit the area later Tuesday night and last into at least Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The weather service predicts strong wind gusts nearing 35-50 mph and temperatures all week to be \u201c20 to 25 degrees below normal for this time of year.\u201d Highs in Aspen are expected to be in the mid-40s to 50 degrees for the week.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\" readability=\"5.7511737089202\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"5.7511737089202\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" xml:lang=\"en\">Cool, wet conditions continue across our region with multiple disturbances forecast to move through this week. Several inches of snow likely <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iCQFlUowci\">pic.twitter.com\/iCQFlUowci<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NWS Grand Junction (@NWSGJT) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NWSGJT\/status\/1130073151298199552?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 19, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe snow levels will start out above 9,000 feet late (Sunday), but drop to around 7,500 feet by Monday morning,\u201d the NWS\u2019s Grand Junction office said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/gjt\/ASpringStormWillBringValleyRainandHighElevationSnowfall\">Sunday afternoon in an update<\/a>. \u201cThereafter, the snow level will fluctuate between 7,000 and 9,000 feet through Thursday. Snow accumulations will be greatest above 9,000 feet where 1 to 2 feet of fresh snow is possible through the week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That is good news for skiers and boarders who plan to head to Aspen Mountain for a bonus weekend. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/local\/endless-winter-aspen-mountain-will-open-for-memorial-day-weekend-skiing\/\">Aspen Skiing Co. announced last week it would open 130 acres<\/a> at the top of Ajax for the Memorial Day Weekend (Saturday through Monday).<\/p>\n<p>At lower elevations this week the weather service is predicting up to an inch of rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>The weather services also warned backcountry adventurers to be prepared for \u201cwinter conditions not normally seen this time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/winter-storm-watch-back-this-week-in-aspen-mountain-areas-up-2-feet-of-snow-by-thursday-in-higher-elevations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: The Aspen Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Snow predictions through May 22, 2019.National Weather Service Winter wants to stick around a little longer this week as a winter storm watch has been issued starting Monday afternoon for Aspen, Snowmass and much of the Colorado mountains above 8,500 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
