{"id":2444486,"date":"2019-05-22T07:26:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T13:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rocksound.tv\/news\/read\/atreyus-upcoming-uk-europe-tour-will-be-going-ahead-without-vocalist-alex-v"},"modified":"2019-05-22T07:26:00","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T13:26:00","slug":"atreyus-upcoming-uk-europe-tour-will-be-going-ahead-without-vocalist-alex-varkatzas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/atreyus-upcoming-uk-europe-tour-will-be-going-ahead-without-vocalist-alex-varkatzas\/","title":{"rendered":"Atreyu\u2019s Upcoming UK + Europe Tour Will Be Going Ahead Without Vocalist Alex Varkatzas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"excerpt\" readability=\"7\">\n<p>Wishing Alex a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt src=\"https:\/\/www.rocksound.tv\/assets\/uploads\/atreyu_download2016_leeallen07.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Atreyu&nbsp;<\/strong>are about to head to the UK for Slam Dunk and a European tour following that, but they&#8217;ll be one man down.<\/p>\n<p>Resident screamer for Atreyu&nbsp;Alex Varkatzas has had to withdraw from the band&#8217;s upcoming tour commitments due to a health issue.<\/p>\n<p>Taking to Instagram, Alex shared that a previous injury which saw him hospitalized has been aggravated &#8220;<em>Just about 2 weeks before the Spring Invasion tour I severely aggravated a damaged disc in my back at L5-Sl, giving horrible muscle spasms &amp; limiting my ability to walk, go to the bathroom, basically fucks everything. I was briefly hospitalized last year for this same thing &amp; unable to walk for several days, followed by a week on a walker&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He continued <em>&#8220;An MRI showed a bulging disc at L5-S1 that was a little worse than last year &amp; revealed a surprise inguinal hernia. I was able to start physical therapy for my back right away but was unable to start on hernia. I was given an Oral steroid the day before I left for tour &amp; started to barely feel ok after a few days. I was advised to take it easy or I would create further issues. After flying home I\u2019ve been in constant agony. I would be lying to you if I said it wasn\u2019t taking its toll on me mentally as well.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;My brothers in Atreyu will rock on without me this run. I have an upcoming epidural, therapy &amp; a follow up appointment to discuss the impending possibility of hernia surgery before Disrupt. I\u2019m terribly sorry &amp; thank you for the faith in our band. a HUGE, I\u2019m sorry to: Slam Dunk Fest, FortaRock, Rock Im Park, Rock Am Ring &amp; the rest of the promoters. Finally to anyone who was looking forward to see me perform with the band on this run.
