“You had your own Pete Wentz and Patrick combined”.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Waterparks<\/strong> dropped their brand new single ‘Turbulent’ last week, and in the opening line Awsten name-checks Fall Out Boy<\/strong>‘s Pete Wentz.<\/p>\n

But the thing with that, is that he needed to get Pete’s permission to do that. <\/p>\n

While Waterparks were in town for Slam Dunk, we caught up with them to find out how Awsten managed to make that happen. <\/p>\n

He texted me \u2018hey, are you in LA\u2019, and I was like \u2018I live here!\u2019.<\/p>\n

When asked how Awsten got in touch with Pete, he replied “Well he was like \u2018let\u2019s get coffee and hang and stuff\u2019, and I was like \u2018okay!\u2019, so we did that – and I show up and it was really tight. We just talked about music and stuff, and he could tell that I was really stoked about the new stuff.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Awsten continued “He hadn\u2019t heard \u2018Turbulent\u2019 when he texted me, so I was like \u2018by the way – before I play this one – I say your name in it\u2019, and I explained why and I explained the meaning behind everything, and he was like \u2018okay cool!\u2019, and I was like \u2018okay, we\u2019re going to play it now\u2019.”<\/em><\/p>\n

He finished by sharing “It feels good to have the blessing.”<\/em><\/p>\n
