Just days before the release of the Jonas Brothers<\/a>\u2019 new album Happiness Begins<\/em> on June 7th, the band sat down with CBS Sunday Morning<\/em> to discuss their reunion journey and the circumstances behind their breakup.<\/p>\n

After the brothers Jonas, Kevin, Joe and Nick, encountered stagnating record and ticket sales and faced internal strife, the band split up in 2013. \u201cTo call it creative differences is almost too simple,\u201d Nick said. \u201cAnd I think a lot of people lost the appetite for what we were putting into the world. So, you know, we were putting up shows that weren\u2019t selling. We were making music that I don\u2019t think we were all super proud of, and it wasn\u2019t connected.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that the brothers\u2019 relationship was also strained, so he had a \u201ctough conversation\u201d with Kevin and Joe. \u201cI said, \u2018You know, I feel like the Jonas Brothers should be no more, and we should go on individual journeys.\u2019 And it didn\u2019t go so well,\u201d he recalls.<\/p>\n

At that point, Joe thought that the band was done. \u201cI checked out in my mind that \u2013 that was it. There\u2019s going to be no more brothers ever,\u201d he tells Smith.<\/p>\n

Nick added, \u201cAnd I feared that, you know, we \u2013 they would never speak to me again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inbetween their breakup, Joe focused on his funky pop project DNCE, while Nick concentrated more on acting and his solo career. Kevin was dedicated to raising his two daughters.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the brothers couldn\u2019t stay apart. \u201cI think we \u2013 we definitely were supposed to go through all of what we went through to get to this point, definitely,\u201d Joe says. \u201cI think it was, it was kind of, I guess you could say destiny, whatever it may be, but yeah, we got a do-over, and I think this time around we\u2019re going to do it right.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, the Jonas Brothers revealed their reunion plans with the release of \u201cSucker,\u201d which debuted at Number One on the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100. They\u2019ve since released another single titled \u201cCool.\u201d Alongside the release of their first album in 10 years, the band announced earlier this week that they would release new documentary Chasing Happiness<\/em> on June 4th via Amazon Prime and a memoir titled Blood<\/em><\/a> on November 12th.<\/p>\n

On August 7th, the Jonas Brothers will head out on a North American tour<\/a> in support of Happiness Begins<\/em> in Miami.<\/p>\n
