{"id":2445127,"date":"2019-06-09T11:24:46","date_gmt":"2019-06-09T17:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=846044"},"modified":"2019-06-09T11:24:46","modified_gmt":"2019-06-09T17:24:46","slug":"wu-tang-clan-to-headline-first-hip-hop-concert-at-nashvilles-ryman-auditorium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/wu-tang-clan-to-headline-first-hip-hop-concert-at-nashvilles-ryman-auditorium\/","title":{"rendered":"Wu-Tang Clan to Headline First Hip-Hop Concert at Nashville\u2019s Ryman Auditorium"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/10076491k.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Since its inception in 1892, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ryman-auditorium\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ryman-auditorium\" data-tag=\"ryman-auditorium\">Ryman Auditorium<\/a> has hosted country music concerts, church revivals and even boxing matches, but never a headlining hip-hop show.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2019\/06\/08\/730747867\/wu-tang-clan-set-to-make-history-as-first-hip-hop-act-to-headline-ryman-auditori\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">NPR<\/a>, that all changes tonight when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/wu-tang-clan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wu-tang-clan\" data-tag=\"wu-tang-clan\">Wu-Tang Clan<\/a> becomes the top-billed act on the Nashville venue\u2019s stage for the first time, as a part of the group\u2019s international tour commemorating the 25th anniversary of its breakout album, <em>Enter the Wu-Tang<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ryman has had to grow up too, and had to grow up into what the city is,\u201d said Sharon Sanders, a Grammy-winning musician, record producer and a member of one of Nashville\u2019s first hip-hop acts. \u201cYou know, the Wu-Tang is ready for the Ryman, but also the Ryman is ready for the Wu-Tang.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Sacha Jenkins,, Wu-Tang released a four-episode docuseries on Showtime called&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/rza-sacha-jenkins-interview-wu-tang-clan-documentary-833297\/\"><em>Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;on May 10th. Just one week later, the hip-hop icons shared a seven-track EP and soundtrack to the documentary with&nbsp;<em>Wu-Tang: Of Mics and Men<\/em>. In October it was also announced that a 10-episode series based on the group called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/wu-tang-clan-tv-show-hulu-rza-736645\/\"><em>Wu-Tang: An American Saga<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;would be forthcoming.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement about the Hulu series Wu-Tang member RZA said, \u201cI\u2019m delighted to be partnering with Hulu and Imagine to explore the vast story of the Wuniverse. Wu-Tang through our music has always strove to inspire as we entertain. This opportunity to continue the Wu-Saga in a 10-episode series will exponentially increase our inspirational style of entertainment.
