\u201cI\u2019m feeling pretty good,\u201d Mick Jagger<\/a> said in his first interview since heart surgery<\/a> caused him to reschedule the Rolling Stones<\/a>\u2019 upcoming North American summer tour. On Toronto radio station Q107, Jagger said it\u2019s been business as usual since his operation. \u201cBeen rehearsing a lot lately in the last few weeks \u2026 This morning [I did] a bit of gym. Nothing crazy. Then I go into rehearsal with the rest of the band.\u201d<\/p>\n

In those rehearsals, the band has been trying to come up with some surprises. \u201cWe\u2019re trying to pick some ones we haven\u2019t done in recent years, stuff we haven\u2019t done before,\u201d he said. \u201cMost of the time people don\u2019t want too much<\/em> unusual. People like a little bit unusual. They don\u2019t want 100 percent unusual.\u201d Jagger added that \u201cMemory Motel\u201d is one of the rarities the band rehearsed a few days ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jagger is well aware of the classics most people want to hear. \u201cThe favorite ones people like to hear are, you know, \u2018Paint it Black, \u2018Honky Tonk [Women]\u2019 and \u2018Satisfaction\u2019 and things like that. We don\u2019t always necessarily do all of them. We sometimes drop one or two, but there\u2019s maybe ten favorites. I don\u2019t know how people would feel if you didn\u2019t do any of them. I think people would say, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s a bit unfortunate, I came to hear this.’\u201d At the same time, he says \u201cWe usually have a [fan] vote song. We usually throw a couple different things in. There might be a few.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jagger says that he still likes being on the road \u2013 just not as much as he used to be. \u201cI don\u2019t do it all the time, [like] 12 months a year. When you\u2019re young, that\u2019s what you do. [Today I] spend three or four months on the road in a year and that seems to be quite a good balance.\u201d<\/p>\n

News of Jagger\u2019s surgery broke in April, but the frontman put any doubts about his condition to rest when he posted a dancing video<\/a> on Instagram. Keith Richards recently gave an interview to the Toronto Sun<\/a> about the episode: \u201cHe went through it very easily. He\u2019s in great shape \u2014 rocking. As I say, it seemed to be no problem at all really.\u201d Richards said he had no fears about Jagger\u2019s mortality. \u201cIt was just, \u2018Oh, Mick will be better.\u2019 We\u2019ll just wait around because there was no doubt that we\u2019d soon pick it up. It just had to be done. So we did it.\u201d The Stones kick off their tour<\/a> on June 21st in Chicago.<\/p>\n
