Earlier on Thursday, Swift revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/taylor-swift-lover-album-announcement-848089\/\"><em>Lover<\/em><\/a> will be released on August 23rd.<\/p>\n<p>The song\u2019s titular phrase was first previewed in the music video for \u201cMe!\u201d when Brendon Urie utters it in French during the opening scene. On the song, Swift once again tackles the haters and all the dirty, dirty cheats of the world, pondering why they invest so much time in negativity. As the track progresses, she shows her support for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/glaad\/\" id=\"auto-tag_glaad\" data-tag=\"glaad\">GLAAD<\/a> (as confirmed in the lyric video) and the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace\/And control your urges to scream about the people you hate\/\u2019Cause shade never made anybody less gay,\u201d she declares.<\/p>\n<p>On the song\u2019s bridge, she wonders why powerful women are always pitted against one another and shows her support for other strong female stars. \u201cAnd we see you over there on the Internet\/Comparing all the girls who are killing it\/But we figured you out\/We all know now we all got crowns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swift\u2019s huge dedication of \u201cYou Need to Calm Down\u201d to the gay rights movement comes on the heels of a recent statement she made in support of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/taylor-swift-letter-lamar-alexander-equality-act-843155\/\">Tennessee\u2019s Equality Act<\/a>. She penned an open letter to Republican Senator Lamar Alexander, urging him to support the bill, which will provide protections against discrimination in various public accommodations.<\/p>\n<p>Swift took to Instagram Live on Thursday to announce details about <em>Lover<\/em>. In addition to announcing the August release date, she unveiled there will be four different deluxe versions available for the physical release. Though she did not reveal the official track list, the album will include 18 songs along with voice memos from her songwriting and recording sessions, just like on deluxe editions of <em>1989<\/em>.
