Period has tapped Andra Day and hip-hop stalwarts Dead Prez for a politically charged new video for their song, \u201cSee the Light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The clip opens with a string of sprawling city skyline shots to accompany the song\u2019s spare piano intro before jumping to a sequence in which Day broadcasts the song\u2019s potent chorus. Elsewhere, Dead Prez MCs stic.man and M-1 spit revolutionary verses in a vast warehouse filled with others ready to join their cause.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">J. Period co-produced \u201cSee the Light\u201d with DJ Khalil, and the song appears on the former\u2019s latest album, <em>The RISE UP Project<\/em>. The album also features contributions from Black Thought, Aloe Blacc, Joss Stone, Jesse Williams, Pharoahe Monch, De La Soul\u2019s Posdnous, Rhymefest, Maimouna Youssef and more. \u201cThe <em>RISE UP Project<\/em> seeks to restore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/hip-hop\/\" id=\"auto-tag_hip-hop\" data-tag=\"hip-hop\">hip hop<\/a>\u2019s place as a powerful voice for justice, and to create a new soundtrack for the new movement of young activists fighting back against rising tides of prejudice and discrimination in our current climate,\u201d J. Period said in a statement. Young Guru, DJ Jazzy Jeff &amp; DJ Khalil executive produced the album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArtist\u2019s power is the ability to make spiritual, emotional and sociopolitical themes relatable.
