{"id":2445452,"date":"2019-06-18T09:21:19","date_gmt":"2019-06-18T15:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=849252"},"modified":"2019-06-18T09:21:19","modified_gmt":"2019-06-18T15:21:19","slug":"chelsea-wolfe-announces-witchy-return-with-forthcoming-album-birth-of-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/chelsea-wolfe-announces-witchy-return-with-forthcoming-album-birth-of-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"Chelsea Wolfe Announces Witchy Return With Forthcoming Album \u2018Birth of Violence\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Neofolk singer-songwriter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/chelsea-wolfe\/\">Chelsea Wolfe<\/a> has announced a new forthcoming album,&nbsp;<em>Birth of Violence<\/em>, her first record since 2017\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Hiss Spun<\/em>, out September 13th.<\/p>\n<p>The new album will see Wolfe stepping into \u201ca more folk leaning sound,\u201d according to a press statement, and her lead single and opener \u201cThe Mother Road,\u201d described as \u201ca harrowing ode to Route 66,\u201d certainly suggests so. Over a haunting strumming pattern of acoustic guitar, Wolfe compares herself to \u201ca spider in Chernobyl\u201d and repeats a morbid resignation: \u201cGuess I need someone to break me\/Guess I need someone to shake me up.\u201d Her new sound may be folksier than her earlier, heavy metal-inspired work, but it\u2019s no less goth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been in a state of constant motion for the past eight years or so; touring, moving, playing new stages, exploring new places and meeting new people-an incredible time of learning and growing as a musician and performer,\u201d says Wolfe. \u201cBut after awhile, I was beginning to lose a part of myself. I needed to take some time away from the road to get my head straight, to learn to take better care of myself, and to write and record as much as I can while I have \u2018Mercury in my hands,\u2019 as a wise friend put it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-849444 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Chelsea-Wolfe-Birth-Of-Violence-Cover-3000x3000.jpg?w=300\" alt width=\"300\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n<p>Wolfe will embark on a tour in support of&nbsp;<em>Birth of Violence<\/em> this August, kicking off at The Cure\u2019s Daydream Festival in Pasadena, CA.
