That band is so popular in Manchester that they were able to play four straight nights at the same stadium on their 2016 reunion tour, so the crowd was quite ready to sing along even if they occasionally needed some help from Trujillo. \u201cThat\u2019s a beautiful song he said,\u201d when it was over.<\/p>\n<p>The amazing moment was the latest unexpected bass\/guitar cover that Hammett and Trujillo have pulled out at Metallica shows in recent years. Other crowds have gotten the chance to hear Abba\u2019s \u201cDancing Queen,\u201d Garbage\u2019s \u201cStupid Girl\u201d or Bachman\u2013Turner Overdrive\u2019s \u201cTaking Care of Business.\u201d The setlist lists these moments as \u201cKirk\/Rob Doodle\u201d and the other band members often have no idea what song they\u2019re going to tackle until it begins, but it\u2019s often by an act that began in whatever city they\u2019re playing that night. \u201cSometimes it gets a little bit challenging to decide on an artist or a song,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/metallica-kirk-hammett-robert-trujillos-727788\/\">Trujillo told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> in 2018.<\/a> \u201cYou may be in Sioux Falls, and you\u2019re like, \u2018OK, I gotta dig deep here.\u2019 But when you find the right song, it\u2019s really cool. It\u2019s a way for Kirk and I to show honor and respect to some of the songwriters in the bands from that particular area. When you get into [places like] Omaha, Nebraska, it\u2019s really a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Metallica are spending the much of the summer gigging at stadiums and festivals around Europe, though in September they are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their S&amp;M concert where they played with the San Francisco Symphony.
