Demo days are back in Snowmass Village this weekend for mountain bikers to check out some of the latest gear. It is the fifth year for the event, which has grown and will fill the arena near the base of the Village Express Lift.<\/strong>

What began as one local man\u2019s desire to shine a spotlight on the mountain biking scene has, in just five years, exploded into one of the premier showcases for all things mountain biking.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been pretty incredible,\u201d said Evan Winn, the brainchild behind Snowmass Demo Days, which take place this weekend. \u201cThe buy-in from vendors, serious riders and the general public has been amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the event\u2019s first year, the pool of exhibitors included just nine brands, which Winn and his team \u2014 an all-in-the-family crew comprising himself, his wife, his sister and his brother \u2014 had to seek out and entice to participate.<\/p>\n

Not any more, though.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are at maximum capacity; we fill up the entire Base Village lawn,\u201d said Liz Winn, who manages most of the event organization and behind-the-scenes work. \u201cIt has been a delight to see the event continue to break records for bike operations on the Elk Camp Gondola annually, as it continues to set the bar for the busiest weekend of the year for biking in Snowmass.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the list of exhivbitors are brands such as Cannondale, Fox, Revel Bikes and more \u2014 and the public is welcome to try them all out. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe get the locals who have been eyeing a certain bike and want to take it out on a ride before committing to such a big purchase, while others just want to explore what\u2019s out there in the world of mountain bikes,\u201d Liz said. \u201dBut we also get visitors and others who either just happen upon us \u2014 they weren\u2019t planning to attend a bike demo, but then they go for it \u2026 and we always get good feedback from them and the vendors.\u201d<\/p>\n

New this year, Snowmass Demo Days is partnering with Roaring Fork Cycling to offer free shuttles for those wanting to ride off the slopes. With rides being offered to Sky Mountain Park and the Rim Trail, this year\u2019s event will take on a whole new spin.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is great for people who want to earn their turns,\u201d Liz said, \u201cand those who aren\u2019t into the whole extreme downhilling scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evan agreed, adding that most Demo Days exhibitors don\u2019t even carry downhill bikes.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery few companies focus on downhill bikes,\u201d he said. \u201cEverything with pedals is meant to go up. Now, folks will be able to experience cross-country mountain biking as part of Demo Days.\u201d<\/p>\n
