Ty Segall<\/a> has a psychedelic identity crisis in his futuristic new song \u201cRadio.\u201d The track is the second single to his forthcoming album First Taste<\/em>, out August 2nd via Drag City.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe body has gone away\/And given me a new name,\u201d Segall observes in the opening lines, before professing over a searing parade of instruments ranging from the koto to the saxophone: \u201cI just want to sit and watch the new radio\/Watching people die all night long on the radio\/It makes me feel like I am living for free.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Radio\u2019 is a science non-fiction song,\u201d Segall said in a statement. \u201cWe live in a Cronenberg film. It has videodrome saxoheadphones. I am a slave to the new radio and so are you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The song follows the single \u201cFirst Taste,\u201d which Segall released last June accompanied by a grotesque slasher-flick inspired video<\/a>. According to Segall, \u201cRadio\u201d arrives just in time for the Fourth of July, and \u201cshould satisfy all our barely-subsumed bloodlust and immutable desire to rule while also providing a majestically boomboxable anthem to revel along with at the cookout.\u201d<\/p>\n

Segall will perform First Taste<\/em>\u2014along with beloved albums from his decade-long career\u2014at his upcoming residences<\/a> in Los Angeles, Brooklyn and overseas. The multi-night runs kick off on July 26th, where he\u2019ll play L.A.\u2019s Teragram Ballroom every Friday until September 27th. He\u2019ll spend October 1st through 5th at Brooklyn\u2019s Warsaw, before heading off to Paris, London, Berlin and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n
