Murder in the Front Row<\/em>, the documentary chronicling the explosion of thrash metal<\/a> in San Francisco and the Bay Area during the Eighties, will screen at theaters across the United States in August and September.<\/p>\n

Most of the screenings will take place at Alamo Draft House Cinemas in cities like Brooklyn, Austin, San Antonio and San Francisco. The film will also screen at non-Alamo venues in cities like Philadelphia, Boston and Providence. The run officially kicks off August 2nd in Santa Ana, California and wraps September 19th in Athens, Georgia.<\/p>\n

Select screenings will feature a Q&A session with Murder in the Front Row<\/em> director Adam Durbin. Tickets for some screenings are already on sale, while complete information is available on the film\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Murder in the Front Row<\/em>, which premiered in April, is based on photographers Brian Lew and Harald Omen\u2019s book of the same name, which was released in 2012. The film explores how Bay Area bands drew inspiration from U.K. groups like UFO, Iron Maiden and Mot\u00f6rhead and spun their sound into something new. The film boasts interviews with members of Metallica<\/a>, Slayer<\/a>, Anthrax<\/a>, Megadeth<\/a>, Possessed, Death Angel, Exodus and Testament, as well as animation and narration by comedian Brian Posehn.<\/p>\n
