{"id":2446486,"date":"2019-07-18T10:47:05","date_gmt":"2019-07-18T16:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=860537"},"modified":"2019-07-18T10:47:05","modified_gmt":"2019-07-18T16:47:05","slug":"the-doors-prep-unreleased-material-for-soft-parade-50th-anniversary-reissue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/the-doors-prep-unreleased-material-for-soft-parade-50th-anniversary-reissue\/","title":{"rendered":"The Doors Prep Unreleased Material for \u2018Soft Parade\u2019 50th Anniversary Reissue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/the-doors.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-doors\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-doors\" data-tag=\"the-doors\">The Doors<\/a> will include a trove of previously unreleased recordings on the upcoming 50th anniversary deluxe edition of their 1969 album, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/the-soft-parade-206183\/\"><em>The Soft Parade<\/em><\/a>, out October 18th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The band teased the project with one such rarity: An raucous early version of their 1970 track \u201cRoadhouse Blues\u201d \u2014 which would appear on the band\u2019s next album, <em>Morrison Hotel<\/em> \u2014 sung by organist Ray Manzarek, who\u2019s cheekily billed as \u201cScreamin\u2019 Ray Daniels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>The Soft Parade<\/em> is one of the most controversial albums in the Doors\u2019 catalogue, due to the string and horn arrangements on several tracks (one such song, \u201cTouch Me,\u201d did become one of the band\u2019s biggest hits). The 50th anniversary edition of <em>The Soft Parade<\/em> will notably include \u201cDoors only\u201d versions of five tracks \u2014 \u201cTell All the People,\u201d \u201cTouch Me,\u201d \u201cWishful Sinful,\u201d \u201cRunnin\u2019 Blue\u201d and \u201cWho Scared You\u201d \u2014 where the strings and horns have been removed. There will also be additional stripped-down versions of<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span> \u201cTouch Me,\u201d \u201cWishful Sinful\u201d and \u201cRunnin\u2019 Blue\u201d featuring new guitar parts from Robby Krieger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Other rarities on the set include two more songs recorded during studio rehearsals that also feature Manzarek on vocals, \u201c(You Need Meat) Don\u2019t Go No Further\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m Your Doctor.\u201d That trio of tunes (including Manzarek\u2019s \u201cRoadhouse Blues\u201d) also features newly recorded bass parts by the Stone Temple Piolots\u2019 Robert DeLeo.
