Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/a> will star in Season Two of Amazon<\/a>\u2019s psychological thriller Homecoming, Variety<\/em> reports<\/a>. Mon\u00e1e will take over from Season One lead Julia Roberts<\/a>, who will stay on as executive producer of the series under her Red Om Films studio.<\/p>\n

Season Two will find the show making a narrative departure from the Homecoming <\/em>podcast, on which the series is based. According to Variety<\/em>, Mon\u00e1e\u2019s character is \u201ca tenacious woman who finds herself floating in a canoe, with no memory of how she got there or who she is.\u201d It\u2019s unclear if any other cast members from Season One \u2014 including Bobby Cannavale, Stephan James, Hong Chau and Shea Whigham \u2014 will return for the second season.<\/p>\n

Along with Homecoming<\/em>, Mon\u00e1e is slated for a number of other high-profile film and television roles, including Kasi Lemmons\u2019 Harriet Tubman biopic Harriet<\/em><\/a>. She\u2019ll also lend her voice to Peg the Pekinese in Disney\u2019s upcoming Lady and the Tramp<\/em> remake and appear as feminist scholar and child-welfare advocate Dorothy Pitman Hughes in the Gloria Steinem biopic The Glorias: A Life On The Road<\/em>, directed by Julie Taymor.<\/p>\n

Music-wise, Monae recently covered<\/a> Bob Marley\u2019s \u201cHigh Tide or Low Tide\u201d for Spotify\u2019s Singles Series. She also inducted<\/a> Janet Jackson into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past March. She will perform at Chicago\u2019s Lollapalooza Festival<\/a> later this summer, August 1st through 4th. Mon\u00e1e\u2019s last album, Dirty Computer<\/em><\/a>, was released last year.<\/p>\n
