Vic Mensa<\/a> has released a political new music video<\/a> for his Travis Barker-produced song \u201c3 Years Sober.\u201d The track is credited as a joint release between Mensa and his new rock band, 93PUNX.<\/p>\n

Directed by Mensa and Franc Fernandez, the \u201c3 Years Sober\u201d clip follows on the heels of Mensa\u2019s previous release, \u201cCamp America,\u201d<\/a> in its political provocation. Mensa puts on lipstick and a dress blaring the Confederate flag design in sequins, before getting into a tug-of-war with Vice President Mike Pence, infamous for his supportive stances towards gay conversion therapy. The video later sees Mensa getting attacked by two men, who write \u201cfraud\u201d and \u201chomo\u201d in marker on his face, and him getting arrested for trying to use a women\u2019s bathroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u20183 Years Sober\u2019 video is a statement about identity,\u201d said Mensa. \u201cI put on a confederate flag dress to be able to laugh at a symbol of hate, and played tug of war with Mike Pence over birth control. I had my face written on to get ahead of<\/span> everything I know people will say about me and had a diner full of BBQ Becky\u2019s call the police on me for using the women\u2019s bathroom. I know some in hip hop culture will see this and say \u2018Vic\u2019s gay\u2019 (which I\u2019m not), whereas if I was white they\u2019d just say \u2018he\u2019s<\/span> a rockstar.\u2019 93PUNX is about being yourself, fuck what people think.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mensa will head out on tour next month with Jesse Rutherford of The Neighbourhood.<\/p>\n
