{"id":2446794,"date":"2019-07-25T16:29:53","date_gmt":"2019-07-25T22:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=863745"},"modified":"2019-07-25T16:29:53","modified_gmt":"2019-07-25T22:29:53","slug":"jawbreaker-documentary-dont-break-down-to-get-wide-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kspn\/music-news\/jawbreaker-documentary-dont-break-down-to-get-wide-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Jawbreaker Documentary \u2018Don\u2019t Break Down\u2019 to Get Wide Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/dontbreakdown_poster_41719_16W.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jawbreaker\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jawbreaker\" data-tag=\"jawbreaker\">Jawbreaker<\/a>, the influential post-hardcore band who notched the Number Four album on <em>Rolling Stone\u2019s<\/em> 40 Greatest Emo Albums of All Time with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-lists\/40-greatest-emo-albums-of-all-time-23526\/jawbreaker-dear-you-1995-158635\/\">1995\u2019s <em>Dear You<\/em><\/a>, are now the subject of a documentary that is finally getting a wide release.<\/p>\n<p>Filmmakers first teased the picture, <em>Don\u2019t Break Down<\/em>, two years ago but it hasn\u2019t been available. That will change on August 6th when it goes up for sale on Amazon, Google Play, and iTunes; it will also be streamable via Amazon Prime. It will also get a theatrical screening tomorrow at Louisville, Kentucky\u2019s Copper &amp; Kings.<\/p>\n<p>The band formed in New York City in 1986, releasing their debut, <em>Unfun<\/em>, four years later. Despite reaching a larger audience by opening for groups like the Foo Fighters, inter-band tension drove the members apart after recording only four full-lengths. They reunited in 2017 \u2014 around the film\u2019s original release \u2014 and have stuck together. In addition to the band members, the film features interviews with Billie Joe Armstrong, Steve Albini, Foo Fighters\u2019 Chris Shifflet, chef Graham Elliott (who has a Jawbreaker tattoo), and others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d width=\u201d640\u2033 height=\u201d350\u2033]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought that they were going to bridge the gap between Green Day and Nirvana,\u201d Armstrong says in the film\u2019s trailer.<\/p>\n<p>At one point in the film, after the band swears they\u2019ll never sign to a major (before signing to a major), drummer Adam Pfahler looks back on their story. \u201cWe know how this is going to end,\u201d he says, \u201crags to riches to rags.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The movie was produced by Dan Didier, formerly a member of Jawbreaker\u2019s contemporaries Promise Ring, and Keith Schieron, who helped make <em>We Jam Econo: The Story of the Minutemen<\/em>. Schieron co-directed the picture with Tim Irwin, who helmed <em>We Jam Econo<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The release comes ahead of a new album by cellist Gordon Withers (who plays with sometime Jawbox honcho J. Robbins in the J.
