If you’ve been a fan of Green Day<\/strong> for a while, you might already be familiar with the fact that Billie Joe Amstrong and Mike Dirnt have a covers band called The Coverups<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Coverups don’t pop up very often – in fact, they’ve only ever performed live a total of seven times. Which is why it was such a big surprise that Billie Joe and co popped up at a block party in Oakland, California last week, and played an hour-long set.<\/p>\n

Accompanied by a number of friends, Billie Joe tore through 19 covers in just over an hour-long performance, including classics from the likes of Nirvana<\/strong>, David Bowie<\/strong> and Misfits<\/strong>. Basically, it looked like a very good time.<\/p>\n
