Several surviving Talk Talk contributors will honor the band\u2019s late frontman, Mark Hollis, this fall with a tribute concert in London. The musicians will perform material from throughout the band\u2019s catalog at the event, set for November 26th at London\u2019s Royal Festival Hall.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the venue\u2019s website<\/a>, as-yet-unannounced \u201cspecial guests\u201d will also take part in the show, dubbed \u201cA Celebration of Talk Talk and Mark Hollis.\u201d No band members are specified on the site, though NME<\/em><\/a> reports that founding keyboardist Simon Brenner \u2014 who played on the band\u2019s debut LP, 1982\u2019s The Party\u2019s Over<\/em>, but left the following year \u2014 will participate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other participants will include guest musicians who played on the band\u2019s albums and tours, including percussionist Martin Ditcham, pianist Rupert Black, guitarist Jeep Hook and bassist John McKenzie. Phil Ramacon, who co-wrote \u201cThe Colour of Spring\u201d from Hollis\u2019 lone, self-titled studio record, will serve as musical director.<\/span><\/p>\n

NME<\/em> emphasizes that bassist Paul Webb and drummer Lee Harris, both official members during the band\u2019s run, are not playing the show. (Writer\/multi-instrumentalist\/producer Tim Friese-Greene, who contributed to the band\u2019s following four albums \u2014 1984\u2019s It\u2019s My Life<\/em>, 1986\u2019s The Colour of Spring<\/em>, 1988\u2019s Spirit of Eden<\/em> and 1991\u2019s Laughing Stock<\/em> \u2014 is also not involved.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Hollis died<\/a> in February at age 64, following what his manager called a \u201cshort illness from which he never recovered.\u201d After the news broke, Webb saluted his former bandmate\u2019s \u201cgenius\u201d in a poignant Facebook post.<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a honour and a privilege to have been in a band with him,\u201d he said. \u201cI have not seen Mark for many years, but like many musicians of our generation I have been profoundly influenced by his trailblazing musical ideas. He knew how to create a depth of feeling with sound and space like no other. He was one of the greats, if not the greatest.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
