Frontman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ben-gibbard\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ben-gibbard\" data-tag=\"ben-gibbard\">Ben Gibbard<\/a> describes the scene over a rolling drumbeat and textural guitar, gingerly singing, \u201cGone, gone\u201d in the chorus as he laments their deaths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Olympic Pipeline explosion in 1999 was a tragedy that really affected me while we were living in Bellingham,\u201d Gibbard said in a statement. \u201cAfter all these years I felt it was worthy of its own folk song.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band cut \u201cKids in \u201999\u201d and another&nbsp;<em>Blue EP&nbsp;<\/em>track \u201cBlue Bloods\u201d with producer Peter Katis (The National, Kurt Vile). They self-produced \u201cMan in Blue,\u201d and recorded the rest of the songs on the EP with producer Rich Costey during the sessions for their most recent album, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-death-cab-for-cutie-get-reborn-on-thank-you-for-today-712722\/\">Thank You for Today<\/a><\/em>. Death Cab will play some dates in support of the album around North America this August and October.
