In a new edition of \u201cFirst Drafts of Rock,\u201d Jimmy Fallon<\/a> and Kevin Bacon<\/a> have revised The Clash<\/a>\u2019s 1982 hit \u201cShould I Stay or Should I Go.\u201d In the segment, which has previously included versions of \u201cAmerican Woman\u201d and \u201cFree Fallin\u2019,\u201d the pair dress up as the punk band to perform their take on the song on vocals and guitar.<\/p>\n

In this version the lyrics are slightly more simplistic, with Fallon (as Joe Strummer) crooning, \u201cIf I stay I will be here\/ But if I go I won\u2019t be here\/ If I go I will be there\/ And if I stay I won\u2019t be there\/ So just to recap go means there\/ And if I stay then that means here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Things take a turn midway through the track as Fallon adds, \u201cI got a coin that I will throw.\u201d Bacon (as Mick Jones) responds, \u201cHeads I stay, tails I go.\u201d \u201cWhere\u2019s the coin, Mick, do you know?\u201d Fallon asks, searching his pockets. \u201cWait I thought you had the coin, Joe,\u201d Bacon says. The exchange devolves into a back and forth on coin sorters, Magic 8-Balls and Rubik\u2019s cube before the pair build to a final, repeated joint verse of \u201cA Rubik\u2019s Cube can\u2019t answer questions.\u201d Fallon concludes the track by shrugging, \u201cYou know what? We\u2019re just gonna go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bacon and Fallon have frequently teamed up for these first draft versions of classic rock hits. They\u2019ve previously rewritten everything from Tom Petty\u2019s \u201cFree Fallin\u2019\u201d<\/a> to The Beach Boys\u2019 \u201cFun Fun Fun\u201d<\/a> and The Kinks\u2019 \u201cLola.\u201d<\/a> Chris Stapleton joined the duo for a version of ZZ Top\u2019s \u201cLegs\u201d<\/a> a few years back as well.<\/p>\n

Bacon also joined Fallon for an interview during his appearance on The Tonight Show<\/a><\/em>, in which he discussed touring with his band Bacon Brothers and his Showtime series City on a Hill<\/em>.<\/p>\n
