The song marks the band\u2019s first new music since 2017\u2019s <em>Something to Tell You.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The video features Daneille Haim leading her sisters Alana and Este through the streets of Los Angeles, shedding layers of clothing along the way. \u201cAnd you always know, I\u2019m your summer girl,\u201d Danielle sings, occasionally turning around to glance at a saxophonist following her. She eventually confronts him behind the glass of a ticket booth at the New Beverly Cinema, dressed in uniform. \u201cWalk beside me, not behind me,\u201d she advises, \u201cFeel my unconditional love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cI started the song when I found out my partner had cancer,\u201d Danielle said in a statement. \u201cI was on tour and felt like I was trying to send positive energy his way almost telepathically. Whenever I would come home in between shows I wanted to be his sunshine \u2013 his summer when he was feeling dark. His hope when he was feeling hopeless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSummer Girl\u201d is Haim\u2019s most recent collaboration with Paul Thomas Anderson, who was a student of the Haim sisters\u2019 art teacher mother in Los Angeles.
