Slipknot<\/a> proclaim themselves \u201cthe bitter, the maladjusted and the wise, fighting off a generation too uptight\u201d on their menacing new song \u201cBirth of the Cruel.\u201d The track will appear on the metal band\u2019s upcoming sixth LP, We Are Not Your Kind<\/em>, out Friday, August 9th.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBirth of the Cruel\u201d \u2014 which, title-wise, appears to put a dark spin on a famous Miles Davis LP<\/a> \u2014 opens with frontman Corey Taylor singing melodically over jagged guitars, growling bass and double-kick drums. He explodes into wild screams on the chorus, as heavy toms and piercing turntables enter the mix. \u201cI\u2019m overthrown, I\u2019m over your throne, I\u2019m over it,\u201d he bellows. \u201cSick, sickened, sickening \u2014 I\u2019m stricken by the fist\/Blessed are the fires that have burned me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Slipknot previously previewed We Are Not Your Kind<\/em> with lead single \u201cUnsainted\u201d<\/a> and \u201cSolway Firth,\u201d<\/a> both of which feature videos directed by percussionist Shawn \u201cClown\u201d Crahan. They recently promoted the album, which follows 2014\u2019s .5: The Gray Chapter<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a>, by performing<\/strong><\/span><\/a> the former song and standalone 2018 cut \u201cAll Out Life\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/a> on Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Slipknot\u2019s ongoing Knotfest Roadshow North American tour<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u2014 which features Volbeat, Gojira and Behemoth on all dates \u2014 continues August 7th in Denver, Colorado and concludes September 8th in The Woodlands, Texas. Their live schedule also features gigs at the Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals, in addition to October and November dates in Australia and New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n
